Welcome to NHLSCAP.com, your #1 resource for NHL salary cap information - described by many people [including The Hockey News, James Mirtle, and Team 1200 in Ottawa] as "the best salary cap resource available."

To find information on the site, use the following links:

-- To see where all 30 teams currently stand with respect to the salary cap, use the "Team Numbers" link.  This is an estimate of what you might hear if you could as an NHL executive, "where does everyone stand right now with respect to the cap?" and is figured exactly how the league is figuring payroll room during the regular season; it will be updated as more information becomes available, but for '06-07 it was a "very good estimate" based on what people who've seen the estimates here and the actual cap situation as reported by the NHL.

-- All player cap numbers and salaries can be found using the "Player Cap Numbers" and "Player Salaries" links.

-- A complete list of players with either a no-trade clause or a no-movement clause is available [updated February 26]

-- A preliminary list of 2008 free agents is now posted, by position and by team.  See each page for more details.  [Updated March 22]

-- Pages covering the Entry Draft, various CBA topics [such as the salary cap, waivers, and offer sheets] can be found via the CBA FAQ link or by clicking on the hyperlinks provided.

-- Information on past years can be found with the "Archives" link, taking you to information on final team cap numbers for 2005-06 or 2006-07 as well as details on individual cap numbers and how much players contributed to the final team number.

Current known errors on the site (Please read before sending an e-mail ... it might be covered here already.  Otherwise, let me know and I'll fix it ASAP!)

Site News

APRIL 7 - After much delay, all pages are updated.  This will be the last update to the site until May 14 due to work and personal time constraints ... so if signings and/or trades occur, don't worry - I'll have them noted and will get them listed after May 14.  I'll also update Group VI free agents at that time.

MARCH 24 - The team pages for cap numbers are updated, as are the Free Agent pages and the spreadsheet.  All other pages will be updated tomorrow.  I will not be moving players who are potentially Group VI free agents over until at least April 15 ... so hold any comments on them until that point.

MARCH 20 - Sorry for the lack of updates ... blame it on the flu.  Much of the site will be updated this weekend.  I still don't have a positive fix for the LTIR issue - I've got something close, but I know it's still not right.  I'll post tentative numbers this weekend and continue trying to work on this, but it may not be finally solved until after the end of the season.

MARCH 1 - Yeah, sometimes I make a mistake ... and on rare occasion, it's a really important one.  I found one such error - here's why it's so important.

JANUARY 23 - Cam Janssen was reportedly placed on LTIR by New Jersey retroactive to October 4; however, since the Devils are well short of the Upper Limit [and have been all season], no adjustment will be made for their estimated cap situation.

AUGUST 7 - "You have so much information I can't find anywhere else ... what's your source?"  Great question ... those who've followed the site since its inception for the last year can tell you the answer to this - but since not everyone has, I'll give everyone the answer here.

JULY 5 - YES, KEITH PRIMEAU COUNTS AGAINST THE UPPER LIMIT FOR THE FLYERS!  See my "Keith Primeau" page for an explanation why.
